Sometimes news is a little slow and that's generally good thing since news worth commenting on is often bad. I caught BOC a few times in their heyday, that being the mid-late '70s. Once at the Coliseum in Memphis Coliseum when they had the lasers. This was in the 1970s and lasers weren't little things you carried in your pocket - they were big and heavy and cantankerous. Eric had run a fiberoptic cable from one of the projectors to a thing on his wrist so he could play it around like you do when tormenting your kitty cat. There was a huge disco ball hanging from the roof and he would point his laser at it and it would spray light all over the place.

The Cult (no not that cult but I like them too) was one of the most cerebral groups of any era. Think Jefferson Airplane with a metal edge. I wouldn't mind seeing them again, maybe I can catch them some day.

This was a little after Skynyrd played there and shook some ceiling tiles loose during Free Bird. Talk about survivors, but that's another story for another time.

Okey-dokey, what's happening? Hmmm, lessee. The Arkansas AG filed for a dismissal of the frivolous lawsuit of the abortionists. Standard stuff. The Interwebs problems was a big deal, hitting the airlines and all. No need in going into the technical reason, people don't want to hear it. All right, if you insist.

IT Director Jason Ratliff said get got a phone call that said all the computers in the 911 dispatch center turned to blue error screens. He said the first technician showed up in minutes to assess the issue. 'Unfortunately, we had to put our hands on every workstation and every server,' Ratliff said. 'We had to be on-site and boot them into safe mode'. (KAIT)

The Microsoft ecosystem is the problem as is the culture it spawned. An IT director these days is a guy who has the phone numbers to call. And had an impressive Linkedin profile. I'm one of the last of the old guys who knew where to tap, or could figure it out pretty quickly. I retired three years ago after over a dozen years of running an enterprise with ZERO downtime. Not five nines - zero. Downtime cost us thousands of dollars a minute. It is doable but the main thing is we didn't outsource anything critical including DNS (that trick will cost you). My replacement, a guy I had about a year to get started before my untimely retirement, quit after just over a year. The owners had started outsourcing this and that and were on his case all the time wanting to know when he was going to get something or other fixed. Cloud = someone else's computer.

I noticed the hospitals didn't report any problems. The Medical Industry used to be one of the Microsoft zombies - whether or not they've seen the light or not I have no idea. Probably not and they just got lucky this time.

I shouldn't have laughed. At least this one was non-fatal. Looking at Cookville demos one might suspect they were transients. I've seen cars without windshields on the interstate in Memphis.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol posted to X that they "are actively searching for two black males with facial tattoos driving a white Kia Forte." The possible temporary Tennessee tag reads Q9SC4JR.

Does anyone know anything about this? The JET thing I mean. In most cities these things are subsidized by taxpayers one way or another. A casual search turned up some stuff, not sure what it all means.

Wickedpedia has these stats as of 2022:

This here says they got some taxpayer money - not sure what a low-emission bus is. Hope it's not electric. Seems there does seem to be some taxpayer input as I see here and here. OK, I get it. A million here there and a million there and pretty soon... btw there's no such thing as a no-emission or low-emission anything. Just a matter of what gets emitted and where.

What's killing people? Just reading the headlines I might go out on a limb and say people are killing people. But that's just me. I don't doubt there's toxic stuff in Memphis - it had a lot of industry at one time. Not now but I doubt when it shut down much cleanup got done. And with the place dying nothing is left but the inhabitants. A lot of the squalor is behind the walls of the big apartment buildings but a lot of it is on the streets. And the city government government is raising taxes on the few who pay taxes so they leave.

Talking to a friend who lives in Tennessee and has a couple of businesses in the Memphis area so he says it's gonna be hard to let them go but he doesn't see any way to avoid it. I haven't looked into it so don't know how it would work in Tennessee but I told him the state should take over running the city, however that would work. As long as the denizens are allowed to elect their leaders they will get more of what they already have.

Of course if they tried that they'd have to bring in the National Guard and hire a few hundred more state police to maintain order. And whether - once it was cleaned up - it could be returned to the locals is another question. Maybe the city government could be restructured, maybe if the inhabitants saw how much better it was under competent management - one would think. Or I imagine some would.

Dunno where the NEA Report guys and the Jonesbororightnow folk are. They didn't do national stuff anyway. KAIT and the Sun put something up about Joetato Xiden throwing in the towel. Whether he knows it yet or not I have no idea. The Arkansas political guys and gals had whatever they call tweets on X. Pretty standard stuff since Arkansas government and congressional delegation is about all Republican. Some of them commented on X:

That was Governor Sanders and her former-governor father, for those of you who haven't been keeping up. Next we have a former governor who sadly became a president. Slick Willie is probably happy Joetato came along so he isn't the most corrupt president in history - only the next to most. As for being white trash it's close but I belive the Bidens take home that trophy too. Sick Willie limited replies on his tweet to people he likes. Governor Sanders and her dad and Senator Cotton left theirs open so the trolls could mentally self-pleasure.

Then we have some dude I never heard of, says he's a senator from Fayetteville. He's the minority leader which is probably why. He had one reply on his and that was me telling him what a doofus Bubba is. Okey-dokey.

We were expecting it, now it's wait and see what the regime comes up with. Beating Trump is gonna be tough even with the fraud apparatus and half the country operating at a fifth-grade mental level. Actually fifth-graders are probably smarter - I didn't notice that kind of dumbness happening until high school when the serious indoctrination began.

Twisted Mentat 48 minutes ago Is this the great-grandmothers of all CFs or what? The morning talking head shows had him still on. Then on Sunday afternoon he announces it in a X post. And all the rest, no presidential letterhead (the flunkies couldn't find it?) and he hasn't been seen in days. Color me suspicious. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of Sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. Until I see him holding a copy of today's NY Slimes I suspect he's either at room temperature or at least comatose. What difference, at this point, does it make?
